Gugulethu Sofia Mbatha better popular under her stage name and screen name Gugu Mbatha Raw. Her popularity grew for her role in the BBC television series of science fiction called Doctor Who. Handler's stand-up career began when she was part of an all-female Oxygen TV cast in the hidden camera/practical humor reality series Girls Behaving Uncooperatively. The show was on the air from 2002 until 2005. Handler then started appearing in other programs such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler is also the correspondent of The Tonight Show. Her breakthrough was in 2006 when she was able to host her own show on E! The Chelsea Handler Program. The Chelsea Handler Show ran for two years. Handler was a performer at the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour on American soil following the season.
